How long after a student graduates is it ok for them to date their former teacher?

What are the laws relating to this? Is it wrong if there is a relationship going on while the student is still at the school? Could the teacher get in trouble even if the student wanted it?

Just to let you know, this DOES NOT relate to me, I'm just wondering because I saw a question on here earlier relating to this and it got me thinking.

    As I understand it, the student 1) needs to graduate and 2) needs to be of legal age.

    Even at that there will be lots of backlash. Both people would need to decide if it is worth it.
