I have a japanese friend who is a student in the us and wants to work/live here. Are her only options: continue being a student? getting hired by a company that will pay for visa? getting married? I am clueless.

Does home school have the same curriculum as the public schools? Isn't it easier, otherwise how does someone finish high school at 16?

Its a complicated situation, but my friend is coming to America, and she is finishing her senior year here. The education system in the UK is different then America- in my high school you need credits to graduate. She took what I'm guessing is the equivilant to honors classes over there (she is a very good student), but she is going to come to America as a senior. How will that effect credits to graduate?

I am considering homeschooling my high school aged son.
What type of diploma will he earn (in Tennessee) if he is homeschooled - or will it just be a GED?
I will be an independent home schooler, not affiliated with a church or other organization.
I'm aware of the requirements, but have been unable to find out what type of diploma he will earn, or if it is simply a GED.

I recently defaulted on my student loan and contacted the student loan company to before they started garnishing my wages. I agreed to a reasonable monthly payment and made the payments on time when I noticed that my wages were being garnished as well. I contacted the student loan company several times and they kept saying that they would remove the garnishment and that my employer had recieved the paperwork. I contacted my employer's payroll and the stated that they never got the paperwork and I should ask for a copy myself to fax it in myself just in case. The student loan company wouldnt give me a copy of the garnishment letter to the employer and claimed to have faxed the paperwork in. It has been 4 straight pay periods and nothing has been done meanwhile im still making monthly payments directly from my bank account. Is there anyway to stop this? PS: I dont need smart remarks about you should have paid in the first place, i know that much but i couldnt afford to at certain points.

I am paid to do research as a graduate student, but all of my income technically comes from grants/scholarships/fellowships. I am doing my taxes now online, but the site I'm using won't let me deduct my 2007 traditional IRA contributions because I don't have any 'earned income'. Is there any way for me to contribute to an IRA?

I'm debating home schooling my son after this school year (he's in 5th grade). But I work full time and cannot be a SAHM even though I'd like to. How hard do you think it would it be to home school him and work full time? Thanks!

The child is constantly interrupting with verbal outbursts or banging on floor or table. I just need to make it to the end of the school year with my sanity. I can put the student on a computer and they will be quiet, but they also need to do classwork - which they will not complete unless someone is hovering over them. Student is very capable of doing work and is intelligent - The social worker and principal are aware of the situation but our hands are tied.

I've looked up so many programs for online school.I've written paragraphs about the benefits. I've weighed the pros and cons. I have a lot of websites written down, but she still thinks she'll have to get involved. I am terrified of public and private schools. So, I want to be home schooled. I think it would be best for me cause I get really anxious when I just think about school. I need answers to convincing her and fast!
